City officials reported approximately 250 gallons of gasoline used for city vehicles and equipment were stolen from Patriot Park.
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — Officials reported that approximately 250 gallons of gasoline were stolen from a tank located at Patriot Park.
According to officials, the suspect(s) broke through the fence that encloses the gasoline storage tank and took the fuel.
Superintendent Kienitz with the Michigan City Parks Department reported the findings at a recent Parks Board meeting stating the theft cost the department $697.50.
City officials were unable to comment further on the incident as it is currently being investigated by the Michigan City Police.
The city uses the gasoline stored at Patriot Park to operate city vehicles and lawn and maintenance equipment.
Anyone with information on the person(s) responsible for the theft is asked to contact the Michigan City Police Department.
