Friendship Gardens Hosts Turkey Walk

Published

on

Friendship Botanic Gardens will host this year’s Gobble Gobble Turkey Walk, a free family event celebrating Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage month on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central Time.

Bring your family to the Friendship Botanic Garden located at 2055 E US Highway 12 in Michigan City to enjoy the fun and festivities.

Children can participate in a gnome scavenger hunt throughout the Symphony Loop section of the garden where they can explore the loop as they count hidden gnomes and get a Thanksgiving treat.

Afterwards, experience what it was like as a Native American with a first-hand look at Indigenous Peoples’ cooking techniques while a garden educator hosts a cooking demonstration over an open flame.

Later, families can enjoy the fun in the Cleveland-Cliffs Children’s Garden, an arena for interactive play experience which includes a playset, Whimsical Cabin, water spout, and a sensory garden.

Due to the nature of the outdoor events, the event is dependent on the weather. Residents are urged to follow the Friendship Botanic Garden’s Official Facebook page on Thanksgiving morning to ensure the weather has not affected the event.
