A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for La Porte County as well as other surrounding counties beginning late Thursday night at 11:00 p.m. which is expected to last through Friday evening at 11:00 p.m. according to the National Weather Service.
According to the Weather Service, areas north of Highway 6 are expected to receive a heavy snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches of snow.
Residents are advised to plan on difficult travel conditions including a significant reduction in visibility during the morning hours on Friday.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a significant chance for snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Officials are advising residents not to travel if it is not necessary.
If you do have to travel, it is recommended to use extra caution.
